Chakshu Portal: Your Eye Against Spam and Scams!

Chakshu (which means “eye” in Hindi, cool right?) is a super easy-to-use platform launched by the Indian government. With Chakshu, you can report those annoying spam calls, weird WhatsApp messages, and any other suspicious messages trying to trick you.

What kind of stuff can you report?

• Those robocalls promising you a million bucks (spoiler alert: they’re lying)
• Phishing texts trying to steal your bank info (yikes!)
• Shady WhatsApp messages from “uncles” you don’t recognize (don’t send them any money!)

Basically, anything that seems fishy, report it soon! Here are some other examples:

• Fake customer service calls
• Texts about fake bank accounts or wallets
• Phishing attempts for your SIM card, gas connection, or electricity bill
• Someone pretending to be a government official (don’t fall for it!)

Using Chakshu is a breeze:

1. Head over to the Sanchar Saathi website (https://sancharsaathi.gov.in/).
2. Click on “Citizen Centric Services” and then “Chakshu – Report Suspected Fraud Communication.“
3. Tell Chakshu what kind of message you got (call, SMS, or WhatsApp) and what scam they were trying to pull.
4. Give Chakshu some more details about the message. You can even take a screenshot to show them as proof!
5. Verify your phone number with a quick code and hit submit. Done!

Why use it?

By reporting these scams, you’re not just helping yourself. You’re helping to make the internet safer for EVERYONE in India. It works with a special system that analyzes all the reports and shares them with the authorities. This helps them catch the bad guys faster and stop them from scamming others.

Remember, together we can fight cybercrime! So next time you get a suspicious message, don’t just delete it. Report it to Chakshu and take a stand against online scams!
