The Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting and Management System is up and running, allowing folks to promptly report financial fraud and prevent funds from falling into the hands of cybercriminals. As of December 4, the system has successfully protected more than Rs 1,000 crore in over four lakh incidents.
Battling Cybercrime with Vigilance – UCO Bank
Responding to concerns about UCO Bank accounts, Minister of State for Finance Bhagwat Karad shared that, by December 7, UCO Bank managed to recover Rs 705.31 crore out of the Rs 820 crore mistakenly transferred. The bank had fallen victim to a massive digital fraud, prompting them to file an FIR with the Central Bureau of Investigation on November 11.
Taking Cybercrime Seriously
Acknowledging the rising tide of cyber threats, the Department of Financial Services organized a meeting on November 28 to address cyber security issues in the financial sector. Representatives from various ministries, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, the Unique Identification Authority of India, the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre, the National Payments Corporation of India, and banks participated.
